Whether you’ve come to Burnaby for a conference, to visit family, or to explore the greater Vancouver area, you’ll always find something new to pique your interest. Our most popular attraction, as you may have already heard about - Metrotown Shopping Centre - is always bustling with excited shoppers. It features newly-opened stores such as Japanese lifestyle retailer Muji, Uncle Tetsu’s Japanese Cheesecake, a Nespresso coffee retail space, and the clothing store Caposhie, for modern boomers. We’ve also come up with an exciting list of places to see and mouth-watering spaces to eat at!

Family Day Winter Festival

Celebrate togetherness at the Family Fay Winter Festival! Located at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre in central Burnaby, there will be a pancake breakfast by donation, toonie skate, face painting, as well as arts, crafts, and entertainment, between 9 am and 1:30 pm. Afterwards, wind down with a leisurely stroll through Burnaby Lake - you may even be able to spot some wildlife!

Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge

One of greater Vancouver’s most treasured spots will always include Lynn Canyon. This forest hike sheltered by the trees starts you off by going over a narrow suspension bridge that links the mainland to the mountain, with a ravine underneath, stretching for miles. Once on the other side, you can pick from two different hikes - the Thirty Foot Pool loop hike (turn to your left - easy), or the Twin Falls hike (turn to your right - easy, but longer. Can be done in 45 minutes, or you can turn off and connect to the famous Baden Powell trail which stretches across the North Shore - this can be as long or short as you decide)

Famous Eats

Burnaby Heights, (Hastings Street specifically) is a particularly popular stretch for fun restaurants in Burnaby. Our personal favourites include Anton’s Pasta Bar, famous for their larger-than-life plates of pasta, Glenburns Soda Fountain vintage-inspired ice cream parlour, and Chez Christophe Chocolaterie and French Patisserie cafe. For an afternoon or evening of delicious fun, try at least two of these options! And lastly - don’t forget to wear your stretchy pants!
